Had second work based assessment yesterday under posturite. Ohu recommended them because access to work were so slow to get back to me.

Really interesting findings, the chair access to work ordered me last year was unsuitable - offered little support to my back and no support to my neck. It was too big and bulky (I thought the experts knew best and put up with it).

The Kensington mouse I had ordered for me by access to work was also unsuitable causing pain by reading my fingers and palm of the hand (again I thought the access to work knew best).

I have a new chair that needs to be ordered, new mouse, new keyboard, new wrist rest!

Posturite were lovely to me AND listened.

I'm signed off for four weeks more weeks.

My department have moved buildings and not on ground floor level, I'm at my old desk with another department doing my usual job BUT my superviser doesn't get my desk isn't for hot desking......

Moral of my story, I still have a job and will continue to use ohu as valuable tool to gain the things to help me and my twin RA x

Hi Jane

Sounds quite positive.

RE you desk being used as a hot desk. You might want to get the independent assessors on the case. Hot deskers will typically, adjust the chair to suit them, play around wit the desk layout, move screens etc, which will make the desk unsuitable for you, all of which means that the company is not properly meeting its obligations to make reasonable adjustments to your working practices. It's an easy one to fix too because a simple sign saying ' This is NOT a hotdesk, Please do NOT adjust any of the equipment on this workstation,' ought to prevent people messing things up for you.

Might be worth a try.

This is very interesting. Thank you for posting this information. I work full time and I am really struggling at the moment with lots of pain. I had a physio appointment recently and she advised that I looked at the equipment I am using as I work mainly on the computer all day and I am having problems with my back, wrists and fingers. I like the look of Posturite and will be speaking to my Manager about this.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you are able to get back to work at some point

Take care

Hi Jane

Sorry for the late reply. Posturite are very good and a lot of the large companies use them or equipment from them.

Re your desk being used as a hot desk - you will need to ensure that your chair does not disappear when you are not around. Posturite chair models are quite expensive but good quality. If you can put something on the back of the chair asking people using your desk not to mess around with the settings.

Definitely get OH & Posturite involved on this point or you will be forever trying to adjust the settings every time you go into work.

Hi Caroline,

My desk says my name with the words designated desk for me, BUT I have to unplug my special large mouse after use to place in box so others can use my desk.

My chair has my name on the back and a medal on the inside with my name, kept in a large room.

My chair gets sat on and settings moved when I'm not in, all denied of course so I rely on others to help me.

I work in the public sector where redundancies are rife, I'm on an action now for sickness with knee replacement op and bunion.

Can't storm in with a mission to shout loud or I get in the face of management to loose my job.........waiting for the right time to tackle this (with a smile and calmly).

If you understand?!
